Patience
Good things take time to establish, develop and mature. We are comfortable allowing that time where it creates better outcomes.
Quince Tree
A private family holding company for businesses, investments and other assets.
Quince was new to us, but once discovered it stayed with us. We later planted a quince tree of our own. A small beginning with the promise of something that will take time to grow and bear fruit.
Quince itself has a much older story. It is one of the world’s oldest cultivated fruits, with a history stretching back thousands of years. In the ancient Mediterranean it became associated with love, marriage and the “golden apple”, and over time it has been valued not just for the fruit itself but for what can be made from it.
That idea came to feel unexpectedly appropriate. Quince Tree is the enduring structure through which we build, invest in and steward businesses and other assets. Some may remain with us for many years; others may eventually be passed on.
The aim is not simply to hold things forever, but to create the conditions in which good things can grow, and to recognise when the time is right to harvest what has been created.
Good things take time to establish, develop and mature. We are comfortable allowing that time where it creates better outcomes.
Ownership carries a responsibility to develop what we hold and leave it stronger than we found it.
Knowing when to continue building matters just as much as recognising when the time is right to harvest.
We build and support businesses with a long view, giving them time to develop while making deliberate decisions about what comes next.
